Yesterday started off as a promising day with lots of pep and energy in the morning, then by the afternoon, I crashed. I could barely lift my head off the pillow and was even too tired to take a shower. Oh how I was soooooo looking forward to taking my first post-op shower!
Sleep has been interesting. I've been waking every few hours to make sure I stay on top of my pain medication so sleep has been disruptive. The first few nights, it was hard to get really comfy, but as the days progressed it's been easier to find a good position. I wouldn't really say that I sleep, it's really a series of naps over a 24-hour period.
This morning I got up around 10 am and for the first time since surgery, I was able to get a good deep sleep for more than 3 hours at a time. Heaven.
Today was a beautiful winter's day - robin blue sky with lots of sunshine. That was it - I was itching to go outside and take in the day. My initial thought was to go for a nice drive with David at the wheel. A woman in my Cancer Support Group mentioned using a pillow under the arm to support the breast and surgical side. Brilliant! It worked well for a while and then it became uncomfortable - too many friggn bumps in the roads! We headed to Downsview Park and went for a short leisurely walk. So so sooooo good - the sun on my face, the fresh air in my lungs. The best medicine - a walk out in nature.
Hoping to continue getting outside in the coming days. It really does the body good!
AND ANOTHER HIGHLIGHT OF TODAY...I had a shower!!! WOOOHOOOOO!!!!

Sounds like a very good day. Xo
