MARCH 21, 2024
I have a new b@@b!
Well actually, two - one silicon boob and one swimmer boob.
Now let me give you an ear-worm that was my theme song for my second trip to Melmira on March 6: to the tune of Grease's "You're The One that I Want"...
"I've got boobs, they're multiplying
And I'm re-gaining control
'Cause the balance they're supplying
It's satisfying (so satisfying)"
And that was the tune that danced in my head on repeat for the days leading up to and during my appointment on March 6 - the day I got my boob back.
I am so grateful for Amie (owner of Melmira) - a gem of a love-human and my Boobie Bestie! Her expertise in being able to quickly and effortlessly get me sized up and matched to my perfect new girl was incredible - and it was so much fun!
What else comes with a new boob? The need to replace bras and swimsuits that can hold the prosthetic. New boob. New bra. New swimsuit. It's a fresh start.
I tried on a few items and when we found the combo that created balance, made me feel whole and quite honestly, look spectacular, it was euphoric!
Looking at myself in the mirror for the first time with my prosthetic was a bit of a mind-twist. It felt surreal, having the optical illusion of a full chest reflected back at me in the mirror. Oh hello leftie - hello hottie - look at you!
It took me a moment to fully take it all in - the newly updated me. I was made whole again. While I stood in front of the mirror admiring my newfound fullness, I felt something shift - I was surprisingly aware of feeling like my old self again, the pre-mastectomy self. I didn't feel like I was wearing a prosthetic at all, instead, I had returned to the very familiar feeling of ME. I felt pretty and the heaviness of having breast cancer faded into the background. What a beautiful gift.
So... prosthetic breasts. OMG!!! They feel like the real deal. It's insane and absolutely friggn' amazing that these BEAUTIFUL substitutes exist. Seriously... you can't tell the difference!
Be forewarned, I just might take your hand and have you feel it for yourself. (it's been done lol)
So there it is, I have a new add-on which sometimes I wear and sometimes I don't. I like having options. 😊
✔️ breast prosthetic (still trying to find an appropriate name for her)
✔️ new bra that makes me feel pretty
✔️ swimmer prosthetic for all those beach days at the lake (and for our upcoming celebratory trip to the Galapagos)
And in a couple of weeks, I'll be back to Melmira to finalize my new swimwear. Can't wait!
