“Rest is not idle, is not wasteful. Sometimes rest is the most productive thing you can do for your body and soul.”

Does anyone else have trouble doing absolutely nothing? I mean, N.O.T.H.I.N.G. Why do we deny ourselves complete rest? To totally disconnect? Why does being busy carry with it a badge of honour?

With this past month being such an unprecedented whirlwind, by December 23, I was spent. I still had two more days to get through, I had all the feelings of HAVE TOs and SHOULDs, and wanting it all to be PERRRRFECT. Was it perfect? Well, YES. Perfectly imperfect! 😜

On December 26, I woke up with the beginnings of a cold. Desperate to nip it in the bud, I spent the next two days in bed, fighting the results of pushing too hard and doing too much. I succumbed and DID NOTHING and it resulted in feeling much better in just a couple of days. The power of REST!

Yet I felt guilty about taking time out for myself. How silly is that? Well, hello 2023, I am changing that behaviour, especially now.

Sure I understand the need for rest, recovery and healing and yet my mind is making up a long to-do list and rather than resting, it's racing. Haha... old habits dying hard! Time for change.

I'm re-writing the list... REST is the only thing on it (for now).

12 more sleeps....
